The Invitation to Rest: Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Jesus invites those who are weary, burdened, or struggling under the weight of life and sin to come to Him. Jesus invites you to find peace, rejuvenation, and spiritual rest in Him. Jesus wants you to accept His free offer of eternal life by placing your faith in him as your personal Savior. He invites you to rest your hopes of eternal life in His finished work on the cross. He offered himself as a sacrifice to pay for your personal sins. He shed his blood, so you don’t have to pay the penalty of your sins in hell.

Are you anxious or unsure about where you stand with God? Is your soul a little troubled when think about heaven? God wants you to fully understand that today your spiritual anxiety, worries and apprehension about what happens after you die can be gone. You can enter into God’s peace and rest, but only through His son, the Lord Jesus Christ! We will never understand all about God in this lifetime, but God wants you to clearly understand how to find peace with Him.

Have you ever read or heard about this Bible verse?

The Bible says, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness"

So take a closer look at what God is saying to you. God is saying that you can do nothing to win His favor and forgiveness. You must realize that your efforts to get God’s approval for salvation are useless. Next part of the verse says that you must understand that you are ungodly in your heart. The next section of the verse explains that God only saves, cleanses and forgives those who understand that they have no other part in salvation except to repent (turn to God) and believe the gospel. Now, this wonderful news comes at the end of this scripture passage and it says, “his faith (your faith) is counted for righteousness”. When God says that your faith is counted for righteousness, it means that you have rested from all your efforts and rested in what Christ did on the cross for you. You are now accepted by God because He places the Holy Spirit in your heart, and the Holy Spirit represents the goodness and perfection of Jesus. Jesus is fully accepted by the Heavenly Father and now you are in Jesus Christ and fully accepted by God! You are forgiven and heaven will become your eternal home one day.

Another Bible verse that speaks about resting in God’s promise of eternal life by trusting the Lord Jesus as Savior is this, There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his”. The Bible says that God created the heavens and the earth in 6 days. He was then finished with His work of creation and rested on the 7th day. The Bible verse reads like this, “And God did rest the seventh day from all his works”. The works of Jesus on the cross means that all the work and penalty needed to pay for our sins has been finished on the cross. Just before Jesus died while hanging on the cross He proclaimed “It is finished”. All you have left to do to be forgiven and have eternal life is to trust Jesus’s finished work on your behalf. It is God’s amazing love that justifies and saves ungodly people like you and I.

Once and for all, rest your soul at the cross and experience your life as a new person through trusting Jesus as your Savior! Leave behind forever your efforts to gain God’s approval and make it to heaven by your good deeds and behavior. Once you place your wholehearted faith in what Jesus did for you, you will experience the rest and peace of God. It is eternal life and you will never lose it. Eternal salvation becomes yours in a matter of seconds when you rest all your hope in Christ!
