God encourages individuals to turn away from harmful, sinful paths and turn to a life of truth and righteousness, but you cannot clean up your life good enough to please God. God’s requirement to enter heaven is perfection. God commands you to 'Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect'. No one except Jesus has ever lived a perfect life. Even if you consider yourself to be a good person, the Bible says ‘all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags' before a Holy God. The bible says to Repent (turn to God) and believe (believe the gospel). The gospel is that Jesus died on the cross and shed his blood as payment to free you from the penalty of your sins, he was buried and arose from the dead on the 3rd day. About 40 days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended to Heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father. The Father declared that Jesus is Lord of all that is in heaven and earth. This proves that He is God in the flesh and only He can give you eternal life. When you place your faith in Jesus as Savior, then the the righteousness of Jesus covers you like a white robe. When God the Father sees you now, He see's the righteousness of Jesus and you are fully accepted as a child of God. Realize that you are a sinner and you need a Savior! Turn to God by placing your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ today and you will escape the penalty of yours sins in the eternal fires of hell. We are all sinners in thoughts and in deeds. Like a black robe that covers our soul, we cannot hide our true condition from God. The penalty for our sins is ultimately separation from God eternally.

It is a natural instinct in most of us to try to hide our sins because deep down we know we are guilty. We may try to cover up our sinfulness by good deeds and self-effort to reform our lives.

As the picture shows below, our dark sins are still there in the background. We may hide it from others, but not from the creator of the world. The penalty for our sins must be paid!

So we are all sinners that are due punishment and nothing we do to reform our situation will help us. Actually, with our own efforts, we cannot save ourselves from the judgment due our sins in any way. All of the efforts listed on the black robe above are very good attributes, but not one of them can save your soul, or even help Jesus to save you. The Bible says, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us"

The answer is to turn to Jesus! Place your faith in His death on the cross. He shed His blood as our sin sacrifice , He died, was buried and rose from the dead on the 3rd day. When you place your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior, then He covers all yours sins with His blood sacrifice. As a red robe, his blood cleanses our soul of all sins forever. You are forgiven! An amazing gift of God's love just for you!

When you place your faith in Christ and your sins are cleansed, then God puts His Holy Spirit into your heart and life. The Holy Spirit is God's seal of protection and promise of eternal life. It is the righteousness of Jesus and it covers you completely. You are now born again - born into God's family and you will be welcomed into heaven when your time on earth is over.

The Bible says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
