Jesus invites you to accept a gift that you do not deserve: The Bible says, ‘For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast’.
Do you know the meaning of the word ‘grace’? It means unmerited favor. It means undeserved benefits. In other words, you get something that really means a lot to your life, but you really don’t deserve it! Also, you could never deserve to get this great gift that is offered to you, no matter how hard you try. As a matter of fact, if you try to make yourself worthy before you receive this gift, you are in danger of not getting the gift. The undeserved gift we are speaking about is ‘Eternal Life and forgiveness of all your sins. In the Bible Jesus said, "They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance". If you think that you are a good person now or that you can clean up your life in order to please God, you will have trouble totally trusting Jesus for the gift of salvation. If you think you do not need the spiritual healing and peace that comes through relying on God’s grace 100%, then you may never rest in His graceful, loving gift. Turn from this thinking today and realize that the gift of salvation is only by Christ sacrifice on the cross. Confess to God that your greatest sin is thinking of yourself as a good person that deserves salvation. Acknowledge to God that according to the Bible you are a sinner that cannot save their self. Accept God’s gracious gift apart from your own self-righteousness. He will save your soul from eternal hell and fill your heart with a peace greater than you have ever known. Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid"
If someone offers you a gift, then you reach out with your hands and receive it. The free gift of eternal life is received by reaching out with the hands of your heart and accepting it. Some people might pray a prayer asking the Lord Jesus for Salvation because they believe that He will give it to them. Jesus said, “and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out". If you come to Jesus trusting Him in your heart, you cannot be turned down., because Jesus said so. Others may simply believe God’s promises of eternal life to anyone that places their trust in Jesus’s death, burial and resurrection. They may simple say in their heart or out loud that God’s promise of eternal life is mine. Pause now and accept Jesus by faith. You will never be the same!
